Introducing Priority Estimating Retainer Packages: Flexible Support Without the Overhead

News

In today’s construction market, subcontractors face constant pressure to stay competitive, manage costs, and deliver accurate bids on time. Hiring a full-time construction estimator is expensive, risky, and often unnecessary when bidding schedules fluctuate. That’s why I’ve launched a new way to support my clients: Priority Estimating Services Retainer Packages.

Why Retainer?

Traditionally, clients send me projects, I prepare a proposal, wait for approval, and then get started. While this works, it adds delays and makes it harder for subcontractors to plan their bidding strategies. A retainer eliminates that friction.

With a retainer:

  • You have priority access to my services — send a project, and I can get started right away, saving you 1–2 days per project.
  • Typical turnaround time of 3-5 business days per project.
  • You get predictable monthly pricing, so you can budget accurately and avoid unexpected spikes.
  • You only pay for the included hours you chose, without worrying about keeping someone busy for 40 hours a week.

Cost Comparison

Hiring an in-house estimator typically costs around $104,000/year once you factor in salary, benefits, training, and overhead. And at that price, you’re usually hiring someone with just 1–3 years of experience.

With Priority Estimating’s Retainer at any level, you get access to senior-level estimating expertise with savings that range from 50% to 80% in annual costs.

What You Get

Each retainer includes:

  • Quantity takeoffs (defined per client)
  • Cost estimates using Craftsman’s National database or client-provided historical data
  • Estimate reviews (QC checks on your in-house estimates)
  • Consulting calls (up to 2 hours per month)
  • Site visits (as needed, mileage reimbursed)
  • Priority turnaround (3–5 business days; expedited service available if needed)

Additional hours are billed at a discounted hourly rate.

Who It’s For

Subcontractors who want to stay lean without sacrificing accuracy.

Contractors who need consistent estimating support but don’t want the cost and risk of a full-time hire
